The Ocean Pines Players was started in the early 1970's by a college art professor, Jim Striby, and Glenn Fickel, a high school English and dramatics teacher who both had retired to Ocean Pines. We are a non-profit group serving the local community of the Eastern Shore for over 35 years.

The group wanted to introduce local community theatre and involve people who had a genuine love for the theater. At the time, there weren't many clubs in Ocean Pines which was just getting started as a year-round place to live. Many joined the group as actors, directors and who wanted to work behind the scenes as well.

The group has seen many people come and go. Many have passed on or moved away and new members are constantly in demand. Edie Brennan , the current president, joined the Players in 1979 and has performed in at least one production every year since then and has directed several others. The group has several members from all walks of life who have come together for the love of theatre , bringing their particular expertise to the community for its rewards.

The Ocean Pines Players normally produces three productions a year. The next production is "The Odd Couple, the Female Version" and will be performed at the Carousel Hotel. Show times are 7:30 p.m. on June 10th, 11th, 17th and 18th. Sunday matinees are at 3 p.m. on June 12th and 19th.

Recruiting people to audition is done by posting casting calls in the local newspapers, on our website and e-mails of past participants. We always hope for new talent.
